Scriptus

Scriptus is a magazine by and for students of AUC. Combining creative writing, journalism, and visual arts, Scriptus strived to be an outlet of creativity in the AUC bubble. Scriptus releases issues bi-annually, usually around the ends of the semesters, which are comprised of only students’ works.

  • Chair: you ensure that everything runs smoothly within the board. Your main tasks include organizing meetings, keeping everyone in check, dividing the tasks, collaborating with others in terms of promotion of open submissions, and representing the board in official events. You are also the drive and the main motivator of the group.
  • Treasurer+Secretary: these two roles are combined in the board of Scriptus. In general, you are responsible for making and updating Scriptus’s budget (which is actually really simple), checking emails, informing everyone else on the board about the important information received via email. There is a lot of collaboration with the Chair in terms of informing them about everything. You would also take minutes during the meetings to ensure that all the tasks and activities are recorded.
  • PR manager: your main tasks concern the Facebook and Instagram accounts of Scriptus. You would need to post about open submissions, open board positions, maybe a launch party or other things the board is organizing. You are also the creative person who knows and loves to make cool posters for promotion.
  • Graphic designer: As the Graphic designer of Scriptus, your main and only responsibility is to create the final product. Once all of the articles and illustrations have been submitted, you will need to gather them together to create a coherent magazine. This means that most of the work for you will fall towards the ends of the semesters.
  • Head and Junior editors: As Head editor, your main objective and responsibility is to endure the quality of the written pieces for the new issue. This includes the editing process, communication with the authors, and collaboration with the Junior editor. The authors have the autonomy to incorporate the suggested edits as they see fit, although the editors are left the responsibility to ensure minor mistakes, such as grammar, spelling, and punctuation issues are fixed. Junior editor’s role is to collaborate with the Head editor, support their work, and help them in the editing processes. Scavenging or possible authors is part of these positions as well, so it is cool if you know some creative writers who would be willing to contribute their diverse pieces.
